With the Eagles Brian Westbrook’s status uncertain and Donovan McNabb at less than full strength, Philadelphia may be forced to rely on its defense again Sunday night at Soldier Field. McNabb has missed significant time each of the last three years, so Philadelphia is used to keeping a close eye on his health. The five-time Pro Bowler, however, has been solid this season and is expected to play Sunday despite a chest contusion which forced him to briefly leave last Sunday’s game against Pittsburgh.

In the Eagles last two victories, they have totaled 13 sacks while allowing 346 total yards and nine points. In a 41-37 loss to Dallas in Week 2, they gave up 380 yards and failed to sack Tony Romo.
When it comes to the Bears, there are several areas that will be watched by all involved. First, the Bears love to run and have a very conservative game plan and the Eagles are pretty adept at stopping the running game.
Next area of concern: Chicago is going to stuff the run and make the Eagles pass. Problem with that is if McNabb is even at 75%, he will probably have his way with them.
The Eagles like passing but can they keep Donovan McNabb free of the Bears mighty front line? Philadelphia missed Westbrook’s blocking and offense. If he doesn’t play looks like the Chicago defense may have a bit of an advantage.
The Eagles have key players who are banged up: Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook, Shawn Andrews, L.J. Smith to name a few. The Bears WR Devin Hester is hurting. Advantage: Bears against the Eagles back ups. Coach Andy Reid’s philosophy of plugging and playing any player will be tested.
Eagles punter Sav Rocca versus returner Devin Hester. Last year, Rocca lost this battle and Chicago won the battle of field position. Last week, Rocca finally showed off his big leg on a consistent basis and made the difference in the Steelers game.
In a game that will probably lack the drama we will hope for, the Philadelphia Eagles will probably have a easy time of it against the Chicago Bears in the end.
