San Diego Chargers, after the two upsetting defeats in their first two games of home series, will be facing the New York Jets. In their first game, San Diego lost 26-24 against Carolina due to Jake Delhomme’s touchdown pass. But what happened last Sunday was a big upset when Chargers took on Denver. With 4 minutes on the board, Chargers were leading with 7 points. Jay Cutler’s fumble passed the ball to Tim Dobbins but the referee Ed Hochuli wrongly whistled, ruling it as an incomplete pass. This gave Cutler another chance, and Denver availed it by converting a bold 2 point conversion and won the match 39-38. The decision of the play based on the referee’s mistake, annoyed the Chargers’ coach Norv Turner.

There have been very few teams in NFL history who have saved themselves after losing the first two matches in a season. To avoid that San Diego, who have already allowed 437 yards of offense in two games, will have to beat the 30th ranked defense in NFL. San Diego has also lost the Pro-Bowler Shawne Merriman, due to a Knee surgery and the veteran LaDainian Tomlinson is also struggling after a tow injury. Luckily the Charger quarterback Philip Rivers has been doing well and has the league’s third-highest passer rating of 122.5.

Favre, who started well against Miami, couldn’t do that well against New England when Patriots won 19-10, when Jets were seen making a series of mistakes. But still Jets’ defense showed good performance, whereas Patriots missed their quarterback Tom Brady. However, Jets’ linebacker Eric Barton said that defense was responsible for their defeat.

This Monday Favre, 5-0 against chargers, will be playing his first in San Diego since 2003. Jets have beaten Chargers 20-17 in their last match in 2005 wild-card game.
